2024 Woodlands Brook Chardonnay is made from our close planted Chardonnay plot on Woodlands Brook.
This is a more powerful and concentrated release than recent years, showing the benefits of an extra year of vine maturity and reflecting the warm, dry season. It brings to mind the powerful vintages of Chloe, such as 2017.
The colour is a pale green-gold. The bouquet is bright and expressive, with layers of pineapple, melon, and juniper, lifted by citrus and fine cedar oak.
The palate is intense yet plush, offering a rich, textured mouthfeel. Fruit flavours echo the nose, supported by subtle flint and oak spice. A long, cohesive finish is sustained by crisp acidity and a delicate phenolic cut, providing structure.
Best enjoyed between 2029 and 2034.
Pair with roast chicken stuffed with lemon and herbs, or try wild mushroom risotto finished with parmesan and truffle oil.
The vineyard faces north west on free-draining Wilyabrup soils. The rows are a mere 2 metres from each other, providing a vine density roughly double that of the Woodlands vineyard. The soils are Wilyabrup Class 1 – with a clay loam top soil, a bed of gravel and then a bed of white clay. The existing vineyard is on a very gentle west facing slope, surrounded by south facing pastoral land.
