2023 Wilyabrup Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

2023 was another classic vintage in the Wilyabrup Valley. Flowering conditions were excellent, and thereafter conditions remained warm and dry throughout the growing season. In terms of style and weight, wines produced are similar to the 2022 vintage.

Our 2023 Wilyabrup Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 4% Malbec matured in French barriques for 14 months.

The wine is deep crimson in colour. The bouquet is immediately perfumed -opening with violet, rose petal and blue fruits, layered with subtle vanilla, crème caramel and gentle toast. With air, more savoury nuances emerge — lavender, Provençal spices and a hint of coastal salinity.

The palate has a clean, cool entry, featuring bright blue and red fruits. Waves of juicy fruit build through the mid-palate, supported by chewy, fruit-driven tannins that gain grip with time in the glass. Savoury undertones emerge of charred anise, cured meat and light toast, while bright and alluring acidity keeps everything energetic and precise. The finish is long, fresh and crunchy, with a distinctly coastal feel.

Best enjoyed from 2029 to 2033.
