2023 'Clémentine'

'Clémentine' has been produced from our vineyards since the 2015 vintage, taking its name from Andrew and Marie's daughter.

Harvested between the 23rd March and 4th April, the fruit was gravity-destemmed then hand sorted berry by berry. Fermentation and extraction lasted between 12 and 28 days.

The 2023 vintage is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot. The wine was aged for 15 month in French barrels, of which 7% were new, before being blended and bottled in October 2024.

Deep crimson in colour, the 2023 ‘Clémentine’ opens with an brooding nose of violet, lifted potpourri, and sea spray, framed by fine, tight-grained oak. Initially reserved, with air it reveals greater depth and expression, though retaining coastal freshness.

The palate is rich, textured, and full-bodied, carrying a core of blueberry and dark fruits underpinned by mineral acidity. Chewy, structured tannins provide considerable grip, gradually revealing greater finesse and integration as the wine opens.

Very youthful and built with serious structure, this wine needs time and air to fully uncoil, and the rewards are there when it does.

Best enjoyed from 2031 to 2034.
